October 9th: Ton Pentre 3 v Maesteg Park 0

It was a comfortable win for Ton Pentre in their midweek fixture against Maesteg Park with the Rhondda Bulldogs never loosing control of the match.

Ton took control of the clash within the first five minutes when the Rhondda team's captain, Andrew Hughes, was fouled a few yards outside the Maesteg area. From the freekick Ton won a corner, Ceri Harding took it and Dean Morris jumped above everyone and headed in the first goal to make it 1-0 to the Rhondda Bulldogs.

Jamie Michaels came close to grabbing a goal when a Harding run up the wing saw a lovely cross onto the player's head. Michaels put strength behind his headed attempt but was unfortunate to see the ball go wide of Adrian Tucker in the Maesteg Park goals after 12 minutes.

Paul Parker was fouled outside the box three minutes later and the referee awarded Ton a freekick. Harding smashed the ball towards goal and scored with the ball hitting the crossbar on the way in, 2-0.

Harding could have scored again after 20 minutes when a long ball forward from the Ton defence put him through on goal; however, the ball ran away from the player and was collected by the goalkeeper.

It was 3-0 to Ton when the game reached the 35th minute with a goal from Craig Thomas. The player made sure of his appearance on the score sheet when he unleashed a thunderous 30 yard strike at goal, Tucker was unable to hold onto the ball in the Maesteg goals, putting Ton into the comfort zone.

Alex Lawless replaced Andrew Hughes in midfield five minutes before half-time after the player picked up an injury. Dean Morris took possession of the captains' armband as Ton went in for the halfway break 3-0 up.

However, Dean Morris' captaincy was short lived when the player was substituted for Lee Skyrme three minutes into the second half. With Neil Davies now playing the match as Ton Pentre captain, Alex Lawless got himself into the game when his good play released Lee Tapper on the wing. Tapper attacked with the ball but was fouled before he could cross the ball. The freekick was hit into the box and found its way to Lawless' feet whose attempt was blocked and cleared.

Ton continued to dominate when they forced a corner in the 60th minute. Mike Jones made contact with the ball using his head but saw his effort headed from the goalmouth.

After Carl Thomas had replaced Paul Parker in attack in the 72nd minute, Lawless played a sweet ball to Skyrme who's attempted chip of the visiting goalie lost momentum and was cleared from the box.

The uneventful second half finished with a surging run from defence by Davies, he shot at goal but blazed the ball over the bar, however, it did not matter with Futureglaze Windows sponsored team grabbing three goals and three points.

Ton Pentre: Howe; Tapper; Davies; Jones; Prygodzicz; Hughes (Lawless, 40mins); Craig Thomas; Morris (Skyrme, 48mins); Michaels; Parker (Carl Thomas, 72mins); Harding.
